Swim teams drop Indiana duals

After a weekend at the three-team Indiana University of Pennsylvania Invitational that brought in Gannon and Bloomsburg, the Knights left with two losses but had several PSAC qualifying times and a first-place relay finish.

Gannon dropped the meet against Bloomsburg 216-113 and fell to host IUP 226-102  Saturday.

Gannon did have some success on the road trip as the Knights earned first-place finishes in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:39.34.  The relay team consisted of seniors Katie Joseph and Amanda Knapp, and juniors Morgan Lydic and Madeline Summers.

Other top finishes included a third place in the 200-yard medley relay  swam by Knapp, Summers, junior Emily Nottingham and sophomore Gabrielle Borza in 1:47.47.

The Knights had success in the 100-yard freestyle with four of the top-seven finishes held by Gannon swimmers.  Summers’ second-place performance of 54.43 was followed by Lydic in third (54.88), Nottingham in fifth (55.29) and senior Katie Joseph in seventh (56.09).

Also at the Crimson Hawk Dual Challenge, eight Knights posted qualifying times for the PSAC championships.  Borza, Nottingham, Lydic, Knapp, Joseph, Summers, sophomore Samantha Favret and freshman Michelle Franzen had qualifying times.

Up next for the Knights are the PSAC Championships Feb. 19-22 at Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pa.
