Over the past semester, the College of Humanities, Education and Social Scienes celebrated a various amount of accomplishments.
Nancy Morris completed her Ph.D. in Organizational Learning and Leadership.
Carmella Covell completed her Ed.D. in Special Education.
Both women have been promoted to assistant professor.
This year scholarly release time was given to eight recipients: Carolyn Baugh, Eric Dart, Jessica Hartnett, Martha Kosir, Chris Magno, Suzanne Richard, Jennie Vaughn and Katherine Zlabek.
For 2020-2021, CHESS was again allocated 36 hours of release time. This was only 68% of what was requested in CHESS.
Jeffrey Bloodworth, an associate professor of history, was given a sabbatical for next spring to complete his book project, “Heartland Liberal: The Life and Times of Carl Albert.”
Over the past few months, three professors have had their books published.
Jerry Clark, an assistant professor of criminal justice, published “On the Lam: A History of Hunting Fugitives in America,” which he co-authored with Ed Palattella
Katherine Zlabek, an assistant professor in the English department, published “When,” a collection of fiction.
Aaron Kerr, published “Encounters in Thought: Beyond Instrumental Reason.”
90.5 WERG, Gannon’s alternative music formatted college radio station, won second place for Best Regularly Scheduled Entertainment Program for “The V.I.P.” and won the Spirit of College Radio Award.
CHESS looks forward to all of the opportunities coming its way in 2020.
