Missing Knight plaque: Who did it?

Missing+Knight+plaque%3A+Who+did+it%3F

It was a typical Tuesday evening for our staff. We arrived, got to our desks and began working on this week’s sections.
But something felt off. It felt like we were missing something important – something that defined who we were.
For nearly three weeks there was a plaque beside our office door that said: “Gannon Knight Office, made possible by a gift from David P. ’90 and Melanie (Giacomin) McKelvey ’91.”
We felt like part of the gang. These two lovely alumni thought we deserved the opportunity to be made possible, and they dontated funds to create our office. We were made possible.
But, our average Tuesday night took a turn for the worse. Our plaque is missing. What sick individual would steal our plaque?
We need Inspector Gadget to “Go, go gadget,” and help us solve the case of the missing plaque.
We did good, though, for the most part. The plaque lasted a whole three weeks – almost – before being removed. Now, we are back to feeling like the old grandparent who gets forgotten.
It’s OK, though. We don’t need a plaque to know that we were made possible by our alumni. We know deep down that the only reason we are still printing issues is because of the alumni who started the newspaper 70 years ago.
This year marks The Knight’s 70th birthday and we couldn’t be more proud to have been a part of it.
We have had to battle through lack of writers, lack of content and lack of overall interest in the newspaper, but somehow, The Knight continues to put up a mighty fight in its old age.
However, stealing plaques from your elders is frowned upon by almost everyone, and we would really appreciate it if our plaque was returned.
You shouldn’t startle someone of our age like that. We are unpredictable.
