Well folks, Thanksgiving break is over and we have a week till finals. Hope you guys are more prepared than I am.
Anyway it’s been a whirlwind of a break, and now we have numerous games and matches that we need to go see. However, before we talk about the future, we need to take a moment and consider Gannon sports history, as we soon will have new inductees into the Gannon Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2020 inductees are:
• 1985 men’s soccer team
• Javar Cheatham ‘02, men’s basketball
• Jaime McLaughlin ‘99, softball
• Jen Papich ‘14, women’s basketball
• Stacey Reynolds ‘00, ‘01M, women’s lacrosse
• Jon Richardson, Jr. ‘10, football
• Brittany (Yaniglos) Tabron ‘10, ‘11M, women’s basketball
Congratulations to these amazing athletes and the spectacular 1985 team. To celebrate the inductees, Gannon will be having a ceremony during halftime of the men’s basketball game against Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday, Feb. 1. Afterwards there will be a Hall of Fame Reception and a Hall of Fame Dinner.
And for your weekend plans, we have some great matches coming up.
The women’s wrestling team will be in action against Tiffin at 6 p.m. Friday at the Hammermill Center. This will be the women’s team’s final meet at home this season. The men, meanwhile, will be wrestling at noon Saturday against Millersville in the Hammermill Center.
I highly recommend attending both matches because our Knights wrestling teams have been dominant so far this season.
Then for the aquatics we have a swim meet for men and women. The two teams will travel to Indiana, Pa., so wish your classmates good luck as they get ready for their meet.
Anyways, folks, good luck with finals and GO KNIGHTS!
