Fulfill your new year’s resolution and look awesome

Here’s a fun fact: more than 88 percent of New Year’s resolutions made are related to fitness (according to a General Nutrition Centers poll).

Now I don’t know anything about fitness, but I can help you look great while you work toward your resolution.

The first step is to pick out clothes to wear for your workout. I don’t care who you are, wearing just a sports bra to the gym is socially unacceptable.

I’m not saying to wear a hoodie that says, “Don’t cha wish your girlfriend could squat like me?” In fact, please don’t do that. However, I’m a firm believer that if you look good, you’ll feel good.

Wear things that are flattering to your shape. Shorties like me wear the crop running pants whereas my very tall roommate, Long Legs McGee, wears the flare yoga pants. They give her body a flattering curve and she probably doesn’t have to hem hers.

Obviously you’re going to have to wear a parka to get to the Carneval Athletic Pavilion right now, but underneath that, try these ideas on for size.

You could go with a motivational graphic tee that will say something intense like, “train insane or remain the same,” but those aren’t really high-fashion.

Try a Work-It-Out tank from Lululemon that’s going to be snug to your body but very flexible at the same time. If you’re not a huge fan of showing off your arms yet, try an oversized free flowing shirt with a bright or bold sports bra. (But you still have to wear a shirt on top of it!)

The kicks you choose are to prepare for what you’re doing, but if you’re going to do running and lifting here are some suggestions. I personally love my baby-blue Brooks, but apparently it’s not all about the color.

From what I’ve read, the Mizuno Wave Runner has great reviews, especially in purple. I’ve also seen Asics Gel-Extreme 33 that came in every hit color of the ‘80s, if that’s what you’re into.

All of these suggestions will also work if you just go to the gym and walk around a bit. Trust me, I’ve tested it multiple times – I looked great. But good luck on your resolutions!

Next week I’ll tell the smaller percentage of New Year’s resolvers what to wear to help you quit smoking!

Just kidding.
