The Gannon University women’s golf team finished off its shortened fall season this weekend at the Tiffin University Fall Invite.
The Knights ended up finishing seventh out of 14 teams that took part in the tournament, posting a score of 682 through two rounds.
For Gannon, Madison Gardner and Samantha Gaffney led the way with scores of 169 each, which was good enough for 25th place overall.
Sarah White (tied 33rd), Maria Arenas (tied 39th) and Roxanne Garceau (tied 43rd) rounded out the top five scorers for the Knights.
The indiviual leader of the tournament, Jill Schmitmeyer of Findley, shot a 150.
Tiffin and Findley tied for first place as a team, each finishing with team scores of 623.
Walsh, Findley (B) and Southern Indiana finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, at the tournament.
This was the last of four different tournaments that the women’s team took part in this fall. They were able to record finishes of third, first, sixth and seventh as a team in the four events.
Men’s and women’s golf were the only two sports that were allowed to compete this fall season, due to the sports being contactless.
They were able to take part in tournaments outside of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), but not in any PSAC-sanctioned events because of the fall season being suspended.
Both the men’s and women’s teams expect to play during the spring as well. Schedules have not yet been released to the public.
