Why are you running for the position?
I want to get all students highly involved so that they can get the full Gannon experience. There is so many valuable skills and experiences that can only come from being an engaged student. I think a lot of students miss out of opportunities on campus simply because they are uninformed. I want to help students to develop their whole person and become the best version of themselves.
What are your goals if you’re elected to Vice President of Student Engagement?
My goals are to help build unity among students, increase rates of engagement, and help all to find their place on campus. I want students to feel more apart of campus in order to get the full Gannon experience. The position allows the person holding it to make what they want out of it. I want it to become a leadership position in which students feel is a resource to seek advice.
What have you accomplished during your time on campus/SGA?
I have been able to be a liaison between students and SGA. As a member of the academic affairs committee, I have worked to promote the best experiences for students from an educational point of view. I have helped to promote the opportunities available to students around the campus.
Why should students vote for you?
I am an engaged student myself, so I know the benefits and methods for getting other students engaged. I have a unique relationship with residents being part of Hall Counsel and being hired to be an RA next year that will allow me to communicate with them on a personal level. I have the ability to create community among people in order for them to know they are apart of campus.
Why do you think there aren’t many people running for the SGA board this year?
Many SGA members are upperclassmen who are already highly involved in leadership positions on campus and know they cannot fully commit to being an eboard member. Current members are responsible enough to know their limits. Many people do not want to run for a position they cannot fully commit to. Being an executive board member takes a great deal of time and commitment that many members simply do not have to give.
