Gannon University’s Activities Programming Board (APB) will be hosting its annual Lil’ Sibs Weekend Friday through Sunday. This event is a tradition designed to allow the families of students to see and experience college life.
Anna Van Eerden, a junior physician assistant major and APB executive board family chair, said that Lil’ Sibs Weekend is a way for students to get to share their new life with their siblings.
Eerden said that she wants this event to be a chance for students to show and share their new experiences.
“My hope for this upcoming weekend is to share the Gannon spirit with siblings of students and I am excited to facilitate this opportunity for them to share their home away from home,” she said.
Check-in will take place from 6 -7:30 p.m. Friday. During check-in, information about the events will be provided and all of the siblings participating in the weekend’s events will be required to attend a residence life meeting.
Pizza, crafts and a photo booth will also be available during the time of check-in.
The activity-filled weekend will kick off with the first showing of “Finding Dory” from 8:30-10:30 p.m. Friday.
The Lil’ Sibs pancake breakfast will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. While students and siblings chow down on breakfast, a caricature artist will also be present at this event.
The Lil’ Sibs Splash Lagoon trip will take place from 1-5 p.m. Saturday. Shuttles will be provided in order to get students and siblings to the indoor waterpark.
Students and siblings who do not wish to attend the Splash Lagoon trip will have the chance to participate in the alternative activities on campus, which include board games, video games, pool and air hockey.
Also during Lil’ Sibs Weekend, magician Michael Kent and comedian Jonathan Burns will be performing from 7-9 p.m. Saturday in Room 104 of the Zurn Science Center. This event will be open to all students.
The weekend will wind down with the second and final showing of “Finding Dory” from 1-3 p.m. Sunday.
Students are encouraged to participate in this event and use it as an opportunity to show their families what it is like to be a Gannon student.
