Secretary: Abby Cavalier

Why did you decide to run for secretary?

I really want to strengthen the communication between e-board and the General Assembly and the student body. I also want to strengthen the communication between the committees, whether they’re SGA committees or university committees.

What are your goals if you were to be elected as secretary?

I would like to strengthen the communication. Also I would want to make sure things were kept in order, because sometimes things can get lost, or lost in communication and make sure people have everything they need. I would make sure I’m talking to all of the committee heads to make sure I know what they’re doing and I would talk to their members so that if somebody can’t get in touch with their leader, they have somebody else they can go to.

Why did you decide to get involved in SGA?

In my high school, my student council wasn’t very strong. I ran for student council and I didn’t get in because it was more of a popularity contest back in high school, not about what we wanted to do. So I wanted to come here and to be able to voice students’ opinions and make an important impact.

What have you accomplished as a part of SGA?

The freshman class has put white boards in Wehrle and Finegan and we’re also making sure Finegan and Wehrle have a printer, like North Hall. We also worked with the Food Service Committee to get the vegan labels that are in the cafeteria now. We’re also working on a travel board for people who live in the same area so that they can carpool home to save money. We also helped a lot with Unity week. I was in the PR Committee and we made different posters for that. We also had to organize events, order the bracelets that were passed out and made the ribbons that were passed out.

Is there anything you would like the student body to know about you?

I’m currently the freshman class secretary, so I already have that type of experience, and I’m also very organized. I also communicate with people and I like working on things that need finished and getting things done early that need to be done. I also voice my opinion when it needs to be heard.
