THE GANNON KNIGHT

Vice President of Clubs: Megan King

Why are you running for the position of Vice President of Clubs and Organizations?

The reason why I’m doing this is because I like being in leadership roles. I like how it keeps me organized and gives me a chance to take part of the planning and happenings of events. It’s hard to assume such a role as a representative, because there is only so much you can do as a class.

Do you have any previous SGA experience?

I am the junior class representative for 2012-2013. I am also on the Student Success Committee and the Leadership Development Program Committee, which is responsible for holding the leadership conference coming up in April, modeled after the National Leadership Conference we attended in Florida.I also participated in GU-REVU and was involved in Unity Week as well.

What are your goals if you were to be elected to the position?

I want to make my position more substantial and extend its duties to more than attending meetings and working with clubs and organizations for temporary events. I would like to see students more engaged in sporting events and big Greek events, rather than just have the athletic and Greek crowd be there.

We have a select group of people who would go above and beyond to do things and then we have those who are just here to get their degrees, and I’d like to get these involved.

What have you accomplished during your time in SGA?

I participated in GU-REVU and was involved in promoting Unity Week as well. Also, my junior class does the HUMP Days once a month on a Wednesday. We try to ask students about their opinions on pressing issues and services like The Knight Rider and meal plans. Then we take the results to SGA’s General Assembly to see what can be done.

Why did you decide to get involved with SGA?

I had a lot of outside forces pushing me to pursue a position in SGA especially from those who were already a part of the organization.

Is there anything else you’d like the student body to know about you?

I would like to continue what SGA is doing this year but also further it and go in depth specifically with Unity Week and grow my position from a liaison to something more.
