Totem Submissions
Totem is a student run arts and literature magazine, and they are currently accepting art, fiction, creative nonfiction (memoir, personal essay, literary journalism etc.), and poetry. There are no restrictions on what genre or style can be submitted. The deadline to submit visual art is on October 31 and the deadline to submit poetry and prose is November 15. If art is being submitted, it can be submitted to this link or it can be dropped off at Dr. Bradshaw Mittal’s office in Palumbo 3239 or Sabine Preuss–Miller’s office in Palumbo 3015. In addition, all art will be judged for the Cover Art Contest in which the winning artist will receive $100, and their work will be published as the cover of Totem.
An Evening with Lara Hope Schwartz
On October 30 all are invited to the Gannon Reads event to engage and hear from Lara Hope Schwartz this years Gannon READS author who wrote Try to Love the Questions: From Debate to Dialogue in Classrooms and Life. The event will take place in Warner Theatre 811 State Street starting at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. and it has been requested that guests arrive early to check in. No backpacks are allowed in the venue and no clutches or bags larger than 5”x 2” x 8” and professional attire is encouraged.
Spooktacular Events
Coming up this weekend APB has a few holiday themed events to attend. On Saturday, October 26 Big Prize Bingo will be held in Zurn 104 starting at 9. For this Bingo night guests are encouraged to show up early to claim their cards, no EngageU form needed. This month’s bingo theme will be Halloween costumes, and all guests will be encouraged to dress to impress. On Sunday October 27 there will be pumpkin painting on the Deck starting at 4 p.m.
The Black Student Union will be hosting a Halloween Party on Saturday starting at 9 in the basement of the cafeteria and will conclude by 11 p.m. There will be free food provided as well as a photo booth, student ID will be required upon entry.
Meet and Greets
Tuesday October 29 will have multiple meet the sorority tabling in Waldron beginning at 11 a.m. Students interested in joining sororities will be able to visit and learn more about the sororities on campus. There will be free items available for guests visiting the tables.
Monthly Walmart Run
For October, the recreation and wellness center will be having their monthly Walmart run on Monday the 28 starting at 6:30 p.m. guests are encouraged to arrive as soon as possible because seats are limited.
