Erie Pa., — Pat McGrath – dubbed “most influential make-up artist in the world” by Vogue – has continued to amaze fashion lovers everywhere with her recent work on the Maison Margiela’s Artisanal runway.

McGrath is a legend in the fashion and makeup world. The British artist is known for her experimental looks that incorporate bold colors and daring designs, giving us a glimpse into her ingenious mind. These avant-garde looks are her signature style, but more recently, her “glass skin” technique has taken over social media.

At the recent Maison Margiela’s Artisanal runway show, McGrath painted the models to resemble dolls that had come to life. Blended hues packed on eyelids, just under thinly sketched eyebrows, accompanied by colorful cheeks and heart-shaped lips, with a glossy smooth finish over the face. Bright colors tied the looks together – but the porcelain skin stole the show.

The internet’s reaction to the show was overwhelmingly positive. Fans admired the imaginative theatrics of John Galliano’s brilliant designs but were captivated by McGrath’s transformations. Online users praised the artist’s talents by posting their filmed attempts at recreating such a unique look. Many offered their personal advice and favorite products to achieve this shiny skin, but it was no longer needed once McGrath spilled all the secrets and products used for

Going live on Instagram, the artist gave a real-time demonstration with the exact products used and her favorite techniques. This also welcomed questions from online admirers, giving further advice to make-up lovers everywhere.

A perfection of creativity, this makeup look cannot be done in a few minutes. In fact, McGrath answered a viewer’s question, revealing the search for a perfect technique took two weeks of trials. She also admitted that it can take up to two hours to complete the look on a model – 45 minutes if two artists are working on it at the same time.

Announced on Instagram live masterclass – McGrath plans to release a product designed for an easier way to complete this surreal look. She wants everyone to enjoy this beloved look to its fullest. “The glass-skin effect is so transformative,” the artist shares with Vogue, “I want people to be able to experience that surreal luminosity in their daily beauty routine. To feel confident, empowered and illuminated from within.”
