Progress reports for all Gannon sports: March 31-April 6

Men’s soccer (3-3): Gannon lost 3-0 to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Thursday in an exhibition and followed that with a 4-1 loss to Mercyhurst Saturday. Sergio Del Castillo leads the team with six goals. The Knights will wrap up their spring season Sunday against Roberts Wesleyan.

Women’s soccer (1-1): Gannon beat Slippery Rock in its last action, 3-2, on March 28. Its next game will be Thursday against Penn State Behrend for an exhibition matchup.

Acrobatics and tumbling (4-0): No. 6 Gannon took down No. 5 Limestone Saturday, 267.690-260.230, to improve to a program-best 4-0 start. Gannon swept all six events for the third time this season. The Knights will close out their regular season against Concordia Saturday.

Softball (10-8): The Knights have caught fire this past week, winning all four of their games against Slippery Rock. They played a doubleheader on both Saturday and Tuesday. Kaity Stocker broke the all-time Gannon softball home run reocrd Tuesday, with her 29th. Gannon’s next action will be versus Clarion Friday for a doubleheader.

Women’s water polo (2-10): The Knights dropped three matches this week, including two close games versus Mercyhurst and Saint Francis, 9-6 and 8-6. Nicole Wiemken leads the team in goals and points. Gannon will wrap up its regular season this weekend with three games at the Mercyhurst Invitational.

Women’s lacrosse (0-5): Gannon fell to Slippery Rock, 16-8, Wednesday followed by an 18-6 loss to No. 24 Seton Hill Saturday. The Knights also fell 17-6 to No. 25 Mercyhurst Tuesday. McKenna Woodworth leads the Knights in goals and points through five games. They’ll face Lock Haven Saturday.

Men’s golf: The Knights placed third as a team at the Dr. Edwin Cottrell Invititational Monday and Tuesday. Abe Holmes came up just short of an individually title, cioming in second after six playoff holes. Gannon will compete at the PSAC championships starting Friday.

Women’s golf: Gannon placed ninth out of 14 teams Tuesday at the NC4K Classic in Blacklick, Ohio. Sarah White shot a 149 through two rounds, which was good for third place individually. Next up are the PSAC championships Friday and Saturday.

Competitive cheer and dance: Both teams will compete at the NCA/NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship Thursday-Saturday at Daytona Beach, Fla.
