Why are you running for this position?
I am running for vice president of academic affairs because I want to help students be more knowledgeable and informed about what is happening on campus. Being a part of SGA has made me realize how much happens and functions on campus, and a lot of it happens without many people knowing. I think there is a gap between the general Gannon population and some of the higher functioning administration. The current general assembly only has limited outreach to the 3,000-plus undergraduate students here at Gannon. As vice president of academic affairs, I would like to close that gap.
Why do you believe students should vote for you?
I believe students should vote for me because I believe I am someone who can do very well in this position. I think I have a wide range of connections here on campus via different things I have done or been involved in, which makes me a good candidate to see the different effects our decisions have on students. I also know that I am a hard worker and will try my best in all my endeavors I may have.
What are your goals if you are elected to this position?
If I were elected to this position my first priority would be to have student representation on each university committee. In order for that to happen I would also like to form a complete list of all functioning committees as well as all committees that no longer meet. Once I have compiled these things I would then move toward forming weekly or biweekly report checks to see the progress different groups are making on campus.
Why do you believe there are so few people running for SGA board this year?
I think the reason there are so few numbers for the SGA board is because of the responsibility it holds. The current SGA board did a tremendous job during the 2018-19 academic year, and with that are big roles to replace.
What are some of your accomplishments during your time in SGA?
During my time in SGA I helped create a safety survey with the freshman class representatives that was launched during Midknight Madness at the Nash library. I have also been a member of the budget and finance committee.
Is there anything else you would like us to know about you?
SGA has been one of the most fulfilling and rewarding opportunities I have ever been presented with. I know being a part of SGA board would only add to this experience if I were elected. I have goals and the means to make them happen and would love to be the next vice president of academic affairs.
