The Knight Watch Express service is in operation throughout campus. The van runs Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m.-1 a.m. The hours of operation are extended to 5 p.m.-3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Students, staff and faculty have several options when it comes to how to request a ride. They may call Campus Police and Safety, the Gannon switchboard or they can call or text 814-722-8232. In addition, they can press the call button marked ‘Knight Watch’ on the LiveSafe app. From there, students will be able to message and indicate that they need a ride, send their exact location and add a destination.
Les Fetterman, director of Campus Police and Safety, said that the app will increase safety on campus. He said that Campus Police and Safety would like for everyone on campus to have the LiveSafe app. The app can be downloaded directly from the app store. Once downloaded, sign up with Gannon University.
Diego Andres, a sophomore criminal justice major, said that although he has never used the Knight Watch escort service, he can see himself using the Knight Watch Express service if he needed to.
According to Fetterman, the route runs from French to Liberty streets, the Bayfront to 12th Street, and also includes the train and bus station, hospitals and the ACL Lab.
Fetterman wanted to be sure the Gannon community is aware of these resources.
“There are two students with direct connection to Police and Safety working on the van, and it will soon be outfitted with Gannon logos and decals to be easily recognizable,” he said.
