Artist Denny Dent works on a portrait at the “Two Fisted Art Attack” event in the Quad on Sept. 6, 1991. The Quad was an outside area that is now a part of the Waldron Campus Center. Dent, a speed painter, specialized in celebrity portraits, often painting musicians while playing their music in the background. Dent’s performance consisted of three portraits, all of which were finished in a matter of minutes. Lisa Campbell, who served as the director of Student Activities at the time, was able to agree on a deal with Dent that allowed Gannon University to keep two; one of Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones and one of Jimi Hendrix, which he closed out his performance with. When Waldron opened its doors in 1999, it was decided that Dent’s pieces would make their home there. Dent passed away in 2004, but his portrait of Mick Jagger still hangs in Waldron today.
