New hours for Recreation and Wellness Center

New+hours+for+Recreation+and+Wellness+Center

Good for U, Gannon University’s initiative to promote wellness throughout the campus community, invites university students as well as faculty and staff to “Start Your Weekend the Right Way” by taking advantage of the new weekend hours offered at the Recreation and Wellness Center.
The Center is now open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., extending its weekly schedule from last year to provide the campus community with an opportunity to fortify their well-being on the weekends.
Students are encouraged to use the Recreation and Wellness Center as their weekend home-away-from-home. The Fresh Café, located on the first floor, opens at 11 a.m. on weekends and offers a full menu of healthy alternatives for breakfast.
Group Fitness classes are offered for free throughout the day, and are taught by certified personal trainers. Individual personal training programs are also available to the campus community at discounted rates.
Ashley Faulkner, an administrative aide at the Recreation and Wellness Center, said that the new hours focus on promoting a culture of wellness at Gannon University.
“The new weekend hours focus on developing a culture of wellness, fitness and good choices for the Gannon community, especially on the weekends,” Faulkner said.
“We want the students to know that they are welcome to come in on weekend mornings and eat a healthy breakfast, work out, study, do a group project or just have a place to hang out.”
In addition, the Recreation and Wellness Center has recently implemented a theft-prevention initiative, aimed at maintaining a safe and friendly environment throughout the facility by promoting the usage of day-lockers to store members’ items during their visit.
These lockers, located in each of the first floor locker rooms, are free for members to use with the utilization of a lock, which can be purchased at the front desk for $5, and are intended to be cleaned out upon leaving the facility
Visit the Recreation and Wellness Center on Facebook and Twitter and help support the campaign to promote a culture of wellness at Gannon University by using #RWCtheplacetobe.
Contact the front desk for more information on the new weekend hours and additional programs offered at the Recreation and Wellness Center.
