Women roll to third straight victory

The Gannon University women’s basketball team took its three-game losing streak and turned it into a three-game winning streak.

Gannon jumped out to a commanding 11-0 lead and never looked back in a 82-63 rout over Bloomsburg Saturday.

Gannon, which dropped out of the national rankings last week but did receive votes in Tuesday’s Division II poll, improved to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in PSAC play with the dual victories.

Junior Brianna Brennan led the charge on Saturday as she scored 20 points, including 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.

Senior Jennie Thies cleaned up the boards, recording her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Senior Morgan Neighbors added 13 points and five rebounds while shooting 3-of-5 from the 3-point line.

Senior Amanda Berchtold supplied eight points, eight rebounds and six assists from the point guard spot.

Gannon dominated the boards, outrebounding Bloomsburg by a mark of 51-36.

Friday

Gannon 72, Lock Haven 62: The Knights were led against Lock Haven by Neighbors, who filled up the box score with 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Neighbors was efficient in doing so, finishing 6-of-9 from the field, 5-of-6 from the 3-point line, and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Brennan chipped in 14 points, while sophomore McKenna Shives and freshman Elissa Ellerbrock added 11 points apiece.

Gannon shot 60 percent (9-of-15) from the 3-point line for the game, a season-best for the Knights.

The Knights will not play again until they travel to face rival Edinboro (8-3, 4-2 PSAC) on December 16 at 5:30 p.m.
