Dale White has been named the head coach of the Gannon University men’s soccer team, Gannon Director of Athletics Lisa Goddard McGuirk announced Tuesday.
White, a 2001 graduate of Gannon, returns to his alma mater after a five-year stint as the head coach of Mercyhurst. The Lakers qualified for the NCAA Division II Tournament all five years under White.
White led the Lakers to two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships (2012 and 2014), as well as capturing three consecutive PSAC regular-season titles (2012-2014).
White was named the NSCAA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year in 2012 and was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2014.
While at the helm for the Lakers, the program posted a 76-25-5 overall record.
“I am thrilled to have this opportunity with my alma mater,” White said. “I’m looking forward to working with the current group of student-athletes, coaches and administrators.
“It is an exciting time to be joining the university because of its strong vision and facility developments.”
White was a three-year starter for the Knights from 1999-2001. As a midfielder, White started all 28 matches he played in, but was limited due to injuries.
