The movies and books may be officially finished (outside of the upcoming movie, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,)” but fans everywhere still show their love for the cultural phenomenon that is Harry Potter.
Many fans grew up with the characters of “Harry Potter” and it holds a special place in their hearts. Fans show their love in all sorts of ways.
The Harry Potter Trivia event at the Knight Club Thursday is an example of this. Hosted by Sigma Tau Delta, the social event “sorts” students into the four Hogwarts Houses — Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. The houses compete against each other in a test of their Harry Potter knowledge.
The teams select a “head of the house” to speak and answer on their behalf. During multiple rounds of trivia the teams are asked questions from both the movies and the books. The team with the most points at the end receives prizes, but there are also consolation prizes for the other teams.
Students can also enjoy snacks and desserts, as well as butterbeer, the drink of choice for Hogwarts students. After the trivia, students can enjoy a showing of the series’ fourth movie, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.”
The event is students’ chance to share their love for Harry Potter with other fans on campus, meet people and hang out. Sammie Janik, president of Sigma Tau Delta said, “I wanted an event that would attract a lot of students on campus regardless of major.”
What better theme to bring a variety of students than one of the most popular book/movie series of this generation?
