Gannon University’s Office of Campus Police and Safety was notified Tuesday that a Gannon student who was allegedly attacked and robbed confessed to Erie police that he falsified his report. He had admitted that he made up the story and that his wounds were self-inflicted.
Gannon officials reported on Monday, April 18 that a student was attacked and robbed between Chestnut and Front streets, suffering minor injuries. The student claimed that a black male demanded his cell phone and wallet and cut him on the stomach, left hand and neck. The lacerations weren’t serious and not considered life threatening.
Karla Wludyga, director of public relations and communications for the university and special assistant to the president, said that the student was referred to counseling services, but could not reveal more as it would jeopardize the student’s privacy.
