Erie, PA. – There is no shortage of fun in Erie, PA. during the fall season. There are numerous fall festivals, pumpkin patches, and haunted houses that can be found across the city throughout October and November. This week’s edition of the Roundtable asks two Gannon students what their favorite fall activity is.
Hailee Allen, a freshman legal studies major, said her favorite fall activity is going to Barnes and Noble, picking out a new book, and drinking a pumpkin spice latte. “It’s my favorite activity because it feels so cozy,” said Allen. “The mix of coffee, books and the fall atmosphere always put me in a good mood.”
Khoi Huynh, a graduate student in the Strategic Communications program, shared that his favorite fall activity is photography. “I like to take pictures of the fall leaves and fall scenery,” said Huynh. “I enjoy it because I love seeing the progress different plants make throughout the season. I like to observe the different yellow patterns on the plants’ leaves, as well as make a time lapse video from the fall to winter.”
“My favorite fall activity is going for a hike in the woods when the leaves have changed color and cover the path,” said Anna Malinowski, a senior Public Service and Global Affairs major. Similar to Huynh, she appreciates the beautiful colors of the changing leaves and the patterns created by the variations of colors. “Last week, I went to Winter Green Gorge, and it was all orange. I was astonished at the beauty of the trees. I find it’s even better when you can smell the leaves in the air.”
Another fall activity that is a fan favorite for Gannon students is visiting pumpkin patches, such as Port Farms in Waterford. There are many photo opportunities available throughout the pumpkin patch, and there are activities available for visitors of all ages. If you find yourself looking for something to do as the winter months approach, try out one of these activities and indulge in the Erie fall!
