Erie, PA. — Gannon University is celebrating its 100th year in 2025, and the centennial Homecoming and Family Weekend has arrived! Campus is buzzing with alumni, friends and family who have all experienced Gannon’s rich history and culture since 1925. Although Homecoming and Family Weekend is a time the university welcomes alumni back to their alma mater, the festivities are for the whole Gannon family to enjoy.
This edition of the Roundtable features three students who shared what Gannon’s Homecoming and Family Weekend means to them.
Bryce Wood, a redshirt sophomore criminal justice major, is a part of Gannon’s football team. He said that homecoming is a big deal to him and his teammates. “We get a ton of alumni that come to the game, and during homecoming weekend we have our families come and support us” said Wood. “The support system is really large during that weekend and that creates a great atmosphere.”
Rebekah Young is a senior criminal justice and applied intelligence double major. She stated that Homecoming and Family Weekend means a lot to her and her Gannon experience. “It’s more than just an event, it’s all about connection and community,” said Young. “It brings back alumni back to campus and shows just how extensive the Gannon family is, and how it extends beyond campus every day.” Young also added that this year is extra special because Gannon’s 100-year history will be brought to life through the sharing of stories and fellowship throughout the weekend.
“Homecoming and Family Weekend gives me the chance to show the people that support me why I chose Gannon,” expressed Katelyn Palmer, a junior marketing major. “It means they get to meet my friends, teammates, and potentially professors or co-workers. I also get to show them around campus, and they get to see my favorite parts of campus.”
Gannon’s Homecoming and Family Weekend has a special meaning for everyone. As the university prepares for the centennial homecoming festivities, the community is eagerly awaiting the return of Gannon’s alumni, family, and friends.
