Erie, PA.— Gannon University is home to over 2,000 students at any given time of year. Within this student body, a variety of different people exist. We are united through our pursuit of education at Gannon University. However, our differences may lie in our ages, career choices, races, faiths, or a plethora of other things. In every aspect that we are different, there is one where we are similar. In roundtable, we explore the similarities and differences in the thoughts and opinions of Gannon students.
As the spring semester comes to a close, and students enter into their final exam week, many students are taking the time to reflect on their accomplishments and experiences from the past semester. Whether it be a favorite class or lab, or a great memory, there is plenty to reflect on from the past semester.
This week four students were asked about how they feel about their semester. What are they proud of accomplishing, and what are their favorite classes and memories?
Falikha Mukhamedova, a first-year accounting major, says that she has enjoyed the memories she’s made with her friends this semester. “The highlights would be that I went to my classes a lot with my friends, and I feel like it made me enjoy going to classes more. Being around the people that you know makes it a lot easier to have those classes.”
She also mentions her favorite class, “I’m an accounting major, so my favorite class was in fact accounting.”
Elina Asangarieva, a first-year psychology student, shares one of her favorite events of the semester. “I also really enjoyed the Totem event.”
She continues, “One of my friends, he won an award. And I’ll probably apply for that next semester as well.”
Asangarieva adds, “When it comes to my classes, I enjoyed all of them this semester actually, because I kind of chose more of my field related classes this semester.”
Allison Majors, an early childhood, and special education major in her junior year says, “I really liked my semester. It went well. I’m an education major, so most of my classes were education related. I liked all my classes.”
She mentions a highlight of her semester. “I had a field placement at Gannon in the ESL program, so I got to see that, which was interesting.”
Majors explains her favorite class. “I had this class where we tutor for an hour every class, at one of the local elementary schools. That’s probably my favorite because we get to be hands on and actually work with kids.”
Meanwhile, Maria Valencia, a sophomore pre-med major says, “I’ve been taking 18 credits, so it’s been kind of hard. I’ve had to study a lot, every day. But also, I feel like right now the weather helps a lot, I feel so much more confident with myself, I’ve been practicing a lot. I feel the semesters going very well.”
She says, “I really enjoy my classes, my labs, because I’m in pre-med so I have to take many difficult courses that I really enjoy. Also, I really enjoy that at Gannon we have many activities, so that helps when some days I feel that I want to study the whole day, so I can go to those activities.”
She says that her favorite class this semester has been, “Animal form and function, the lab. I feel that I’ve been learning a lot about the respiratory system, and excretory system.”
As the end of the semester approaches, students can reflect on the past weeks and be reminded of their classes, accomplishments, and favorite memories.
