Erie, PA.– I-HACK or the Institute of Health and Cyber Knowledge, is Gannon’s newest building dedicated to cybersecurity, technology and innovation. The building is 6 stories tall and hosts futuristic labs, classrooms, and workspaces for students.
Ascending Innovation: The facade of the building celebrates futuristic elements with its tall and sleek structure. The sharp angles, straight lines, and reflective glass creates an engaging exterior (Kiley Williams, Bailey Clements)
An Entrance into the Future: When entering the lobby, it gives a striking first impression of the building, providing a modern open space with bright white and steel contrasting with dark grey. The first wall seen when entering the building proudly displays the golden trademark of I-Hack on the charcoal grey wall. On the far wall is a projection of videos and posters that allow students to be connected to recent events on campus (Kiley Williams, Bailey Clements)

The Cyber Center: After walking up the stairs is the Pierre McCormick Cyber Learning Center on the 2nd floor which embraces cyber learning for students. The floor contains workspaces such as the Cyber Attack Lab, Cyber Defense Lab and Cyber Innovation Lab. In the center of the floor, is seating and tables for students to lounge and do schoolwork (Kiley Williams, Bailey Clements)
Exploring Digital Frontiers: A glimpse into the Cyber Innovation Lab, used to help develop secure data by using quantum –resistant cryptosystems. One example of I-HACK providing cutting edge resources for cyber, engineering and computing students (Kiley Williams, Bailey Clements)
Hub for Learning and Innovation: The modern and open area leads to The Hatchery, another academic space in I-Hack that features new technology for students to use (Kiley Williams, Bailey Clements)
Space to Recharge: This sleek lounge area on the third floor serves as the perfect spot to relax or get some work done (Kiley Williams, Bailey Clements)
Creativity in the Classroom: Many classrooms in I-Hack showcase student artwork. Students in Gannon’s Minor in Innovation and Creativity (MIC) use these spaces to develop skills in creative problem-solving and collaborate innovation (Kiley Williams, Bailey Clements)
Cutting-Edge Workshop: The MakerSpace provides students with professional technology and equipment to take their work to the next level. Kiley Williams is this academic years Photographer for The Gannon Knight. Kiley is a junior biology major from St. Mary’s PA. A fun fact about Kiley is that she can drive a forklift.
