Erie, Pa.,— U.S. citizens experienced a tense presidential election on Nov. 5 between current Vice President Kamala Harris and Former President Donald J. Trump. The results had been revealed before the afternoon of Nov. 6, with the electoral votes leaning completely in favor of Donald Trump, 312 to 226.
Compared to the 2020 election, Trump’s victory is thanks to significant changes in six divisive battleground states including Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania.
On the night of election day, in Pennsylvania, when votes began to be counted, Democrat votes were leading. However, on the following morning, Pennsylvania state turned red.
During the victory speech in Florida, Trump said “This is a magnificent victory for the American people that will allow us to make America great again.” He also promised to “fix our borders”.
Trump vowed to fulfill the promises he made during his campaign about several different issues, including immigration and the economy. He says, “This will be truly the golden age of America”.
Kamala Harris also delivered a concession speech at Howard University in Washington, DC. She said that the result was not what she or her supporters wanted, however they would accept it. She had a conversation with Trump to congratulate him on his victory and commit to a peaceful transfer of power. She mentioned “In our nation, we own loyalty, not to a president or a party, but to the constitution of the United States.”
Steven Cheung, spokesman for the Trump campaign, said that during the call between president–elect and his competitor, Trump expressed his recognization toward her strength, professionalism, and tenacity. Both of them agreed on “the importance of unifying the country”.President Biden also talked to Trump about his victory, he promised to ensure a smooth transition and work to bring the country together.
Many global leaders sent congratulations to Trump after the election results came out. Some global leaders directly called Trump to discuss the world situation, and to talk about U.S. intervention in other countries. In his return to the White House, Trump lists many things he will do on the first day in office.
These include starting mass deportation of illegal migrants, reversing Biden’s policy in education regarding transgender students, and reshaping the federal government.
