As the 2024-25 school year begins, so does the stress.
In the fight of understanding, finishing, and submitting assignments, it’s important to keep control of what is being taught and learned, as well as maintaining a high quality of work that is being produced. Thankfully, Gannon has resources available to ease the stress and help students succeed. One great example is Gannon’s Writing and Research center.
The Writing and Research center, located on the lower floor of the Nash Library, is a great resource for students to utilize – and it’s free! The WRC can provide help to students in need of humanities tutoring or take direction in improving a paper.
The WRC is not a simple proof-reading tool, but instead it allows a student consultant to work with a client on their paper together, collaborating to find improvements. The consultant offers students well thought out critiques and advice which will guide them through the process together.
The student consultants are Gannon students, all from varying majors – not just in the English department! These students have experienced writing in different styles, formats, and topics throughout various classes.
The writing and research center is perfect for any student looking for help on a paper or just general tutoring in the humanities. Students can come into the WRC and focus on:
Understanding an assignment
Developing a thesis
Organizing
Developing stronger support
Understanding an instructor’s comments
Writing to an audience
Documentation
Using quotes and paraphrases
Punctuation and spelling
Style/voice
Grammar/mechanics
Tutoring
The WRC is available to any students enrolled for classes at Gannon. This includes dual-enrollment, undergraduate, and graduate students.
To make an appointment at the Writing and Research Center for any tutoring or help with papers, you can go to gannon.mywconline.com to schedule with a consultant.
The center is open:
Monday through Thursday 11am – 8pm
Friday 11am – 4pm
