“What qualities do you value/look for in a friend?”

February 23, 2024/midnight

Mia Ambuski, Senior Chemistry Major
“I think the most important thing in looking for friends is finding people who I’m happy to be around! I enjoy having people I can comfortably talk to, laugh with, and lean on for support. I love having friends who can appreciate spending time together in simple, kind of low-maintenance ways like cooking and having dinner together, going on a walk, or watching our favorite shows. I am really blessed with friends who bring me so much joy and I always want my friendships to be a positive part of my life!”
Ana Schang, Junior in the 5-year Physician Assistant Program
“When I look at all the friends that I hold close to my heart, I notice a few qualities that they all share. Therefore, one of the first things I look for in a friendship is kindness. Kind people help remind me that the world is positive. Also, their kindness will spread to everyone around them as well. A second characteristic I look for is honesty. Honest people can give me tough love when I need it, something that should not be overlooked. Honesty also allows for greater connections because it pushes past barriers that may be present. And finally, the last quality I look for is dependability. It is so important to have people that are willing to be there for you through anything. I value those three qualities above all else, and I strive every day to exhibit those qualities as well!”
Niomi Viera; Junior Public Health Major
“In a friendship, I value honesty, open-mindedness, and humor.”
