Ana Schang; Junior in the Physician Assistant Program
“I must admit I love the old photos of Gannon Gumby. I think that he was a great mascot for Gannon’s beginnings and for the students at the time. However, I think that the Golden Knight represents Gannon better now. When I think of a Golden Knight, I think about bravery and courage. These traits embody every student at Gannon, no matter what activities they are involved in or what major they are. The name is as powerful as it is symbolic. That is why I believe we should keep the Golden Knight as our mascot.”
Emily Hale; Freshman Respiratory Care Major
“We should stay as the golden knights because it seems fitting.”
Madeline Emerson; Sophomore Digital Media Communications and Advertising Communications Major
“I think the mascot should stay the Golden Knight. It’s unique and original to Gannon, plus it represents our school and theme. While the Gumby mascot is fun and a well-known character, it doesn’t make much sense in my opinion. Plus, Gannon has more to offer now, and I think the mascot should represent all of Gannon rather than just the men’s basketball team!”
Maria Piecuch; Junior Finance Major

“I think Gannon should continue to be the Golden Knights instead of going back to being Gumby.”

Why can’t it be both?
Auburn has two mascots. Mike the Tiger is their official mascot, and the War Eagle is also one.
