On Wednesday, October 18th, Allegheny Health Network broke ground on a new state-of-the-art sports medicine and sports performance training facility. This facility, the AHN Pavilion, will serve as a top center for sports injury treatment and specialized training in the northwestern Pennsylvania region. While the center will serve all of northwestern Pennsylvania, it will be greatly beneficial to Gannon University student-athletes due to its proximity.
Dr. Jay Deimel is an Orthopedic Surgeon and the Director of Sports Medicine at Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pa. Through Gannon’s partnership with Allegheny Health Network, Dr. Deimel has worked with several Gannon student-athletes in his role as a team doctor for the Gannon Athletics. This facility will not only add to Deimel’s resources to care for Gannon student-athletes but will also provide Gannon student-athletes with a singular place to find sports medicine physicians, physical and occupational therapists, sports rehab, strength training, and more all under one roof.
The facility is set to open in mid-2024, and when it does, Gannon University will have one of the premiere sports medicine facilities in the state of Pennsylvania right in its backyard.
