Homecoming weekend packed with events

Homecoming and family weekend is this weekend, Sept. 29-Oct. 2., and will be one of the biggest homecoming weekends at Gannon since the start of COVID-19.  

The festivities will begin on Thursday with a national alumni board meeting.  

The Schuster Theatre hosts a student production ofDoctor Faustus,” by Don Nigro, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door. 

Friday, homecoming festivities will begin at 10 a.m. and go until 11 p.m.  

Friday’s events include WERG’s fiftieth anniversary reunion, theatre and communication arts reunion, the Gannon Knight’s seventy-fifth anniversary celebration and advertising ten-year celebration. These will be in the School of Communication and the Arts from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.  

“Ghost of Gannon” is scheduled twice on Friday — from 8 p.m.-9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. Updates of locations will be sent out to the Gannon community. 

Saturday, the Golden Knights football team will play a home game against Seton Hill. The game will begin at noon and will be at the McConnell Family Stadium.  

Before the game, there will be a family tailgate from 9 a.m.-noon at the Recreation and Wellness Center.  

The Golden Knights women’s and men’s soccer teams will also play Saturday at the McConnell Family Stadium. The women’s team will play at 5 p.m. against Indiana and the men’s team will play at 7 p.m. against California.  

There will also be virtual bingo from 3 p.m.-3:45 p.m. and virtual trivia from 9 p.m.-10 p.m.  

Alumni events and reunions will also be on Saturday. The Student Government Association reunion will be at 3 p.m. at Beyer Hall and an Alumni and Friends Mass will be at the Mary, Seat of Wisdom Chapel from 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.  

To close out homecoming weekend, there will be brunch with President Keith Taylor Ph.D. in Yehl Alumni Ballroom from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
