Men’s soccer dominates start of season

Gannon was taken by surprise when the men’s soccer team took control of the field and led the Knights to five wins, two ties and only one loss for the season so far.

The Knights started the season with an away game at Lakewood, New Jersey against Georgian Court. This win of 3-2 was the beginning of their impressive season thus far.

Destroyed in Monday’s game against Gannon, D’Youville had no chance of a comeback with an ending score of 12-1, making Gannon untouchable. This score is the greatest lead for the Knights since 1992, when the Knights led with a score of 19-1.

Starting off with a lead of 4-0 in the first half of the match, the Knights made it difficult for D’Youville to come back. The Knights completed three hat tricks throughout the match – or scored three consecutive goals.

The only goal the D’Youville Saints were able to complete was a penalty kick goal. The Knights ensured the Saints would not have another chance at completing a shot. The offense team took charge and held a wide 40-5 advantage in shots, including a 23-5 in shots on goal.

The men’s soccer team will be back dominating the field for the PSAC West contest at Slippery Rock on Saturday.

Kicking off their season with a great start, the Knights are not stopping here and are hoping to continue a successful season.
