Critics Choice Awards stacks awards in limited lanes

Many awarded movies won in multiple categories at Sunday’s event

The 27th Critics Choice Awards show took place Sunday evening at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles and “The Power of the Dog” came away as one of the night’s big winners.

Jane Campion, the film’s director, won the award for best director and the film also won best picture, adapted screenplay and cinematography.

Other noteworthy winners were Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso,” which won for best comedy series, and “King Richard” star Will Smith, who won the best actor award in the Movies and Films division.

HBO’s “Succession” took home three awards in the TV division – best drama series, best supporting actress (Sarah Snook) and best supporting actor (Keiran Culkin).

Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel and comedian/actor Billy Crystal were honored with the Lifetime Achievement award.

Prior to the award show, which was co-hosted by Taye Diggs and Nicole Byer, stars stunned audiences with iconic looks on the red carpet.

Honorable mentions went to Lady Gaga in a sensual Gucci gown, Selena Gomez in a stunning red Louis Vuitton gown, Thuso Mbedu in Dior Haute Couture, Andrew Garfield in a Saint Laurent suit and Kristen Stewart in Dolce & Gabbana.
