Big Valentine’s Day plans for Schuster Gallery
Home and Abroad exhibit and St. Valentines workshop to come
February 2, 2022
Although the school year is halfway over, there is still much to come for the Schuster Gallery.
Located on the first floor of the Center for Communication and the Arts at the corner of State and Seventh streets, the gallery has much to offer to the Gannon University community.
This week, the gallery is finishing its “Visual Gifts: Home and Abroad” exhibition, according to Lori Steadman, director of the Schuster Gallery.
The “Visual Gifts: Home and Abroad” exhibit is to promote and celebrate International Education Week, which is an effort to celebrate the benefits of international and exchange education worldwide initiated by the U.S. Departments of State and Education.
At Gannon, this effort is the fulfillment of the university’s mission to celebrate and commit to prepare global citizens.
According to the promotion for this exhibit, this home and abroad title is the theme for the gallery’s annual photo competition, which celebrates all Gannon students.
This program is in collaboration with the Schuster Program for the Arts and Global Education and Engagement.
Students can submit up to three impactful images to the competition and are asked to find a theme for the photography.
Awards will be given to the top three places, and entries will be judged by a panel of university faculty and staff.
This month, the Schuster Gallery will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with St. Valentines Workshops and Exhibitions, which will take place on Fridays throughout February.
According to the gallery schedule, this event will run from Feb. 14 to March 14, and there will be a reception on Feb. 10.
The Schuster Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and is also available by appointment.
Steadman said those interested can see what’s been happening at the gallery and with other arts-related things around campus on the gallery’s Instagram page at @guschustergallery.
