‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ debuts Dec. 17

The Sinister Six: Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman, Lizard and one spot left yet to unveil.

And Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men?

The official trailer for highly anticipated “Spider-Man: No Way Home” dropped on Nov. 16. This will be the next installment of films for Tom Holland’s trilogy as Peter Parker.

From his first appearance in “Captain America: Civil War,” to now facing threats from throughout the multiverse, “No Way Home” stands as Marvel Studios’ most anticipated film since “Avengers: Endgame.”

In just three minutes, Marvel and Sony bring fan excitement to new heights since the release of the initial teaser trailer. Here, we see Holland’s depiction of Peter Parker bargaining with Doctor Strange to cast a spell causing everyone to forget his superhero identity, following the events of “Spider-Man: Far From Home.”

Within the first minute of the trailer, we see a glum Peter Parker in his Spider-Man suit drenched in the rain. The trailer then pans to shots of him with the Master of the Mystic Arts who casts the spell.

Strange explains that Parker’s tampering with this spell has caused the emergence of some unexpected visitors from other universes.

This major aspect of the film plays into Marvel’s Phase Four focus on the multiverse and all of the possibilities it holds for its current heroes. From here, more shots of the Sinister Six are shown to feed Spider-Man fan cravings.

You may wonder, who are the Sinister Six? Some names were previously mentioned — all of whom and more make up a band of Spider-Man’s biggest villains in the Marvel Comics.

The first major jaw-dropping moment in this trailer occurs during the fight on a bridge — Doctor Octopus traps Parker, and then he reveals his own face.

The foe says, “You’re not Peter Parker.”

Well, not the Peter Parker he knows. This is the first major hint that the two previous actors who suited up as Spider-Man in their respective film franchises will make an appearance in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

After all, if there are villains from the multiverse, there have to be heroes too, right?

Further along in the trailer, there is an appearance of a new suit, and it seems Parker is able to wield some sort of power similar to Strange’s, which will be an interesting unfolding in the film itself of how that came to be.

Speaking of Strange, there is wide speculation of his true identity in “Spider-Man No Way Home,” considering that he has noticeably uncharacteristic behaviors than previously seen.

Holland’s Spider-Man character is surprised to realize not only his own fate but of the new villains around him¬: in their universes, they all die by the hand of Spider-Man.

Any Marvel fan may think that this would be nothing compared to the fight against Thanos and his army in “Endgame,” but this shock shows that there is much more conflict than what is being currently shown.

Nearing the trailer’s end, Zendaya, who plays MJ in the newest Spider-Man trilogy, takes a fall similar to Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” This served as another huge jaw-dropping moment. Could this cinematic parallel allude to more than meets the eye, serving as a nod to Garfield’s Spider-Man appearing in “Spider-Man: No Way Home?”

With how much Sony and Marvel have kept under wraps for this film, fans can expect big things from the movie.

A three-minute trailer does no two-hour movie justice.

All of the fan questions and theories will be answered Dec. 17 when “Spider-Man: No Way Home” hits theaters.
