Three books you should be reading this fall: staff picks
October 5, 2021
“Homecoming” by Cynthia Voigt
Young adult literature novel published in Februrary 1981 tells the tale of children being abandoned by their mother in a mall parking lot.
It follows their adventure, by foot, to their distant relative’s’ home marked on the map left by their mom.
They have never met this aunt, and don’t even know if she exists, but are out of options.
“Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens
Mystery novel published in August 2018 is a social critique in many forms about racial issues in the South in the 1960s, which are still prevelant today, and in 2018.
This is also a critique of backward family values and law systems that only benefit the white and the rich, most of the time.
It is also a romance, coming- of-age and nature novel, showing the true capacity of Owens’ writing.
“They Both Die at the End” by Adam Silvera
One of the most popular young adult literature books right now is Silvera’s adventure novel which follows two NYC boys with one day left to live.
Do they both die at the end of this heart-throbbing read?
