Gannon University’s Schuster Theatre will be performing a reimagined version of Shakespeare’s “Titus Andronicus” Monday through Wednesday.

The dog days of summer can’t keep Gannon University’s Schuster Theatre from continuing to perform for the community. The theater will be performing Shakespeare’s “Titus Andronicus” at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

Like the theater’s last performance, “Hrotsvitha,” “Titus Andronicus” will be staged outside. Performers will be clad in Shakespearian garb as they perform the reimagined play directed by Gannon alumna Jenna Sulecki.

Sulecki reimagined the tumultuous play, one of Shakespeare’s earliest works, to be fraught with climate change warfare. It will run for one and a half hours with no intermission. Viewer discretion is advised, as adult themes such as climate disaster, sexual violence and murder are present.

Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at https://www.gannon.edu/visitors-and-community/area-attractions/schuster-theatre/. Tickets can also be obtained for free by using the code TITUS at checkout in lieu of credit card information.

The Monday performance is sold out, but tickets are still available for the Tuesday and Wednesday showings.

Masks will not be required, but unvaccinated audience members are strongly encouraged to wear masks, as the seats are not distanced.

In addition to being an in-person event, the performance will also be live-streamed on the Schuster Theatre’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/gannonschustertheatre/.
