It’s that time of the year again: Student Government Association elections.
Current SGA President David Long, a senior criminal justice major, will leave a legacy behind as he graduates in May.
Long has served two terms on the executive board. He is also involved in his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha.
Chief of Staff Matthew Schlessman, a sophomore chemistry/pre-dental major, wishes to continue being a leader on the SGA staff.
Schlessman and Nathan Maietta, a junior biology/pre-medicine major, are running for president and chief of staff for the 2020-2021 school year.
Both Schlessman and Maietta are members of Delta Kappa Epsilon.
Maietta also serves as the president of the Relay for Life on Gannon’s campus.
Also running for president is Beth Kropf, a junior psychology major with a biology minor.
Kropf has served on SGA for three years. She is also involved on campus as a transition guide, resident assistant, a GO! College mentor, Campus Ministry retreatant and leader, Schuster Theater actor and volunteer and a sweetheart of Delta Kappa Epsilon.
Running alongside Kropf is Ryan Young, a biology major with a chemistry minor.
Young is a resident assistant, a lab assistant for Animal Form and Function, a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon, a member of the honors program, leader of the alternative break service trip to the Navajo Nation and a member of this year’s Leadership X6 group.
Students can start voting on engage u at midnight Wednesday until 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
It’s imperative to make your voice heard; students are encouraged to vote and be active.
