As long as I could remember, I have wanted to be a college student.
Now most people have called me crazy due to wanting to embrace the insane amount of homework, lack of sleep and levels of stress college kids are under.
I guess I just wanted to be on my own, living in a would of mature adults who knew what they wanted.
I had seen movies that have made college seem like a glorious place.
Wow did they lie to us.
Don’t get me wrong, I do love college.
It truly is a time to be alive and living your best life, but I’m not gonna lie when I say that it has driven me to tears.
Where do I even begin?
The amount of homework isn’t insane, but it’s not ideal.
Some nights I’m only given a chapter to read, but other nights I’m given a two-to-three page paper to write in less than two days.
I know this is normal, and some people may receive a bigger load, but it’s frustrating some nights when I have a mass amounts of work in other classes.
In college, you’re expected to hold at least one internship.
Although I have not begun the search, I still feel that this will add to my stress.
Finding an internship while having to juggle classes seems close to impossible.
I understand that we’re supposed to enter the work field with experience, but I wish we could take a semester off to focus solely on our internship.
A key factor in college students’ lives is the lack of sleep they receive during their time.
Now some people would say that if they managed their time better, they would have enough sleep, but to that I say no sir.
No matter how much sleep we receive, it will never be too much.
College students endure so much throughout the day that once it is time to rest, our minds are still going a mile a minute thinking about what the next day will bring.
When we enter college as freshmen, we are thrown into a crowd of new people.
We are expected to form new relationships with strangers in a short amount of time.
Sometimes people don’t even act like their true selves to make themselves appear cooler.
An example of the most complicated being dating relationships.
I’m not sure what it is, but something about this time makes people more immature.
Call me bitter, but my high school relationships seemed more mature.
Throughout all of this, we are expected to keep a sane mental state.
Apparently this a quality that is normal for college students.
It is a miracle I haven’t broken down and lost my mind yet.
Now I know I have brought this upon myself having three majors, but at the end of the day I wouldn’t change anything for the world.
College has been the best 2 1/2 years of life and I truly never want to leave.
