Gannon University’s Social Work Club is set to host the annual Christmas Dinner from 2-4 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Gannon Cafeteria located in the Waldron Campus Center.
This year will mark the 41st Christmas Dinner put on by the club.
The dinner is held in order to bring together the Gannon and Erie communities for the holiday season.
Approximately 350 individuals from the local community are set to attend the event.
Students who decide to attend the event will have the opportunity to meet with some local guests and speak with them throughout the time of the dinner.
It is hoped that this opportunity will bring about conversations regarding experiences, concerns and challenges of Gannon’s neighboring community that may not have had a place for discussion before.
Students are encouraged to help out and attend this event.
Those who wish to volunteer their time can help set up for the event at noon on Dec. 1, serve food, assist Santa with handing out presents for the children who attend and clean up after the dinner.
The Social Work Club is also accepting donations of children’s toys up until the dinner.
Children attending will range from babies to teenagers, so donations of different items are welcome.
Students are also invited to attend the dinner in order to have conversations with other attendees from Erie.
Any student interested in volunteering during the event can contact Alexis Brown, president of the Social Work Club, at [email protected] for more information on how to help.
