We are finally getting into the holiday season! Although the next few weeks will most likely be stressful and caffeine-filled with the weight of finals looming in the very near future, we have finally made it to the final stretch.
Since no one really wants to start thinking about finals right now, I thought I would mention more about the holidays and why I think this time of the year is so important.
When we talk about the holiday season, everyone immediately wants to jump to Thanksgiving and turkey, or even Christmas and presents.
I think that is great and I completely understand the people who love these special days.
As someone who does not put as much emphasis on specific days of the season, I tend to think more about the ideas that these holidays make me think and the feelings they bring to me.
For example, Thanksgiving means much more than turkey and mashed potatoes to me. Thanksgiving has always given me a time to reflect on all of my relationships. Both my relationships with my family and my friends are at the forefront of my mind during this time of the year.
I like to think that I put a lot of energy into my relationships, so taking a little bit of time to reflect on the last year is nice.
Taking time to think about the relationships you have with other people can allow you to do things to strengthen those relationships. I believe that your relationships can really change you as a person, so I have always put a lot of time into every relationship I have.
I love that I get to give gifts to the people who mean so much to me and shape me into the person that I am, so Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays. I enjoy having the opportunity to tell the people I care about how much I truly appreciate them.
This part of the year is perfect for taking some extra time to get together with your friends and family.
With two holiday breaks in a short time span, we should all try our hardest to see some of our loved ones that we have not gotten to spend time with in a while.
College gives us a lot to be stressed out about, so it is easy to get too distracted by work and deadlines, and we can find ourselves forgetting to make time to check in with the people we care about.
We can all work a little harder to be sure to plan out enough extra time to catch up with our loved ones.
Overall, I think this season is one of the best when it comes to the ideal time to reflect.
