It is beginning to feel as though every time I look at a television screen or open up a news app on my phone, a new tragedy has taken place.
It is the sad truth, but it is what we are currently living in. We have grown so used to seeing tragedies all around us, that I feel like some of us, myself included, have become numb to it.
We are no longer shocked when we hear of a massive disaster, or a mass shooting.
We hear the death count, the facts and then we move on with our days. This is what the world is now.
I hate to be so negative when it comes to this topic.
I wish there was a way to talk about my feelings regarding the world now without having such a bad attitude, but that is extremely hard to do when I know that things will not get better on their own.
I am, however, hopeful that we will one day be able to make changes. Someday, we will not have to talk about this in such a negative way.
We have to change the way we react to tragedy. I know that it is easier said than done, but we need to be the ones to make a change.
Like any other problem, accepting the fact that there is an issue is the hardest part of fixing anything. We need to realize that there is a problem with the way things are happening and being handled.
We have to stop being so ignorant to what is going on around us every single day.
Another issue I feel we have is that we do not want to admit our own wrongs. For too long, we have been refusing to make changes. We blame other people.
We want to blame others for having differing opinions when, in reality, we all want to make a change.
We all want to stop these tragedies. Our differing opinions should not stop us from getting to our shared goal.
Everyone wants peace. No matter your political party, your religious views or anything else of the sort, we all want these massive tragedies to come to an end.
We want people to feel safe.
At the end of the day, we all want to be able to hear some happy news once in a while. This will not happen while these kinds of disasters are still taking place.
We want to be able to not have to worry about the next largest mass shooting or the next deadliest tragedy.
In order to make that a reality, we need to come together and force a change to happen. It will not happen on its own.
