Wow, I can’t believe the Cleveland Cavaliers would do that! Actually I can — the team has been all about it since the beginning.
You’re probably wondering what I’m talking about. Did they do something dumb? What happened this time? Well, come on, Brandon — tell me.
OK, let me just start by saying the world of sports reporting isn’t always focused on the negative. Yes, the sports world has its flaws, but there is a lot of good that goes on, too.
Anyway, as I step off my soap box, I wanted to give a round of applause to the Cavs for their support of the Cleveland Indians as they go through their postseason, which the Cavs did not so long ago this year.
LeBron and the boys have been at almost every Indians game; at this time the fact-checkers are probably opening up their internet browser. Even if I’m wrong, they’ve shown some amazing support for the Indians.
We’ve seen LeBron rallying the fans and now we’ve seen the Cavs as a whole accommodating Tuesday’s Game 6 of the World Series by pushing their game time back an hour earlier to 6 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena. My mom gave me that scoop, but I double-checked it to just to make sure — and she was right.
On top of that, the Cavs were planning to broadcast Game 6 live on the ‘Humungotron’ after their own game, allowing fans to stay and watch.
To me that’s pretty awesome and shows a lot about the character of the Cavs organization. I also think that it helps bring a positive light to the city of Cleveland, which isn’t always the case.
I think that this is also something we can all emulate. Despite the score, the record or how the game is going it shows a lot of character about the amount of support you give, even if it’s something like a sports team or something more serious.
One example is when people leave football games at halftime and don’t watch the band or cheer teams perform. Band members work just as hard as the players and are out there to entertain you. The least you can do is show them that respect. Also, they’re usually pretty good and fun to watch.
Showing support and caring about other teams or someone else is a good thing to do and pays off in the long run. I’m not home but I’m sure Cleveland is a much happier place, and not just because of the success of its teams.
With it being election season, it’s nice to see the teams coming together and the fans rallying behind them.
So thank you to LeBron and the Cavs for giving us something to look up to and something to aspire to act like. You’ve really shown a lot of class and represented our city the best way you possibly could.
