Gannon University students, Erie community members and all other fans of Joe Jonas will have an opportunity to see the popular heartthrob live in concert Saturday night at the Hammermill Center.
DNCE, a pop-funk rock band led by Jonas, will be performing on Gannon’s campus as part of the spring concert sponsored by the university’s Activities Programming Board (APB).
Other DNCE band members are drummer Jack Lawless, bassist and keyboardist Cole Whittle and guitarist JinJoo Lee.
The group is most popular for their debut single, “Cake By the Ocean,” which peaked on the US Billboard Hot 100 at No. 9 in 2015.
The song was included in the band’s debut EP “Sway” and their self-titled debut studio album, which was released in 2016.
The debut albums also included the band’s popular second single titled “Toothbrush,” which gained notable radio airtime in 2016.
Recent releases from the band include a collaboration with rapper Nicki Minaj titled “Kissing Strangers,” which was released in April of 2017, and featured in Merk & Kremont’s song “Hands Up,” which released on Friday.
The show at Gannon is part of a short string of university shows that the band will embark on, starting at Campbell University on Thursday and concluding at Vanderbilt University on April 20.
Opening for DNCE is CVBZ, the stage name of Sean Jacobs, a Los Angeles-based performer who produces yearning, emotional dance-pop songs similar to the Chainsmokers.
Doors for the concert will open at 8 p.m. and the event is scheduled to conclude by 11 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased prior to the day of the concert for $15 for students and $25 for the public at gannontickets.universitytickets.com.
Tickets will increase in price to $30 for everyone the day of the show and can be purchased outside the Hammermill Center.
