The Gannon University women’s volleyball team went 1-2 over the weekend at the Tony Banner Memorial Tournament in Clarion.
The Knights split their games Friday night, losing in straight sets to Hillsdale (25-22, 25-12, 25-23), but then followed it with a win over Indianapolis in straight sets (25-21, 29-27, 25-20).
Hannah Kren led the way for Gannon against Hillsdale with 12 kills, while Lynne Hibbard supplied 10 kills as well. Sara Crandall added 12 digs, while Morgan Walters recorded 20 assists.
Kren continued her stellar run by leading the way against Indianapolis as well, racking up 15 more kills. Kelsey Ansec added 12 kills and Crandall had another 16 digs.
Indianapolis is included in the latest AFCA Preseason Top 25 Poll in the “among others receiving votes” section.
Gannon returned to action Saturday, but lost to Ashland in four sets by a scores of 29-27, 25-22, 22-25, 25-14.
Standouts for the Knights included Walters with 19 assists and Jordyn Thiery with seven digs.
Kren was selected to the all-tournament team, reaching double-digit kills in all three games, with a total of 39 over the weekend.
Carolyn Krollman reached double-digit assists in all three games this weekend, totaling 52.
The Knights will travel to Norh Easton, Mass. for the Stonehill Skyhawks Invitational on Friday, opening against the host Skyhawks. Gannon will take on Dowling College and Dominican College on Saturday.
